WHAT IS THE EBINGER LOCAL SCHOOL COUNCIL (LSC)?
The Local School Council members are a team of duly elected representatives of the major constituencies of an individual school’s community of learners. LSC members are in a position to encourage greater collaboration with parents, teachers, students, and community.

LSC duties include:
  • Annually evaluate the performance of the contract principal;
  • Decide whether to renew the principal’s four year contract or to hire a different principal at the end of the contract term;
  • Approve or ask for amendments to the expenditure plan prepared by the principal;
  • Approve or ask for amendments to the SIPAAA;
  • Make recommendations to the principal on textbook selection and curriculum, as long as those recommendations are consistent with the curriculum objectives of the Board and the State;
  • Report publicly twice a year on the progress and problems with implementing the SIPAAA;
  • Adopt a school uniform or dress code policy in accordance with Board rules and policies;
  • Grant the use of assembly halls and classrooms, when not otherwise needed, for public lectures, concerts and other educational social activities, in compliance with Board rules; and
  • Approve, in accordance with Board policy, receipts and expenditures for all internal accounts of the school and approve all fundraising activities by non-school organizations that use the building.

The council will hold the principal accountable for the operation of the school. Councils make decisions that amount to local policy and the principal administers the decisions. The principal is the C.E.O. of the school whose primary responsibility is implementing the decisions and the day-to-day operations of the school.
