General Safety Information

Please pay attention to these play lot safety rules.  These rules are in effect at all times. Students are not allowed to play between the mobiles or around the furnace room.  Bicycles, skateboards, and scooters are not to be used on school grounds.  It is against school rules to ride your bicycle, skateboard or scooter down the outside stairs.  We want our children to have fun AND play safe!

EBINGER WELCOMES PARENTS WHO WOULD BE WILLING

TO GIVE HALF AN HOUR ONE MORNING OR AFTERNOON A WEEK TO HELP US ENFORCE THE SAFETY RULES OUTSIDE

Traffic Safety Rules - from the LSC Safety Committee

CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE DROPPED OFF EARLIER THAN 8:30 AS WE DO NOT HAVE ANY SUPERVISION INSIDE OR OUTSIDE PRIOR TO THAT TIME. From 8:30 to 8:45 there will be LIMITED SUPERVISION ONLY.

In order to provide a safe environment for all of our students, Pratt Avenue and Farwell Avenue (and the adjoining alley) are closed from 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM and 3:30 - 4:00 PM.  If you must drop your child off, use Octavia.  Please be careful and don't let your child out in the middle of the street. Use curbside!

**Farwell Avenue and the adjoining alley are both completely closed to traffic except for neighbors who need to get in and out of their garages. If you've already parked there, please wait until the cones or horses are removed before moving your car.

**Do not move or remove any barricades! They are there for YOUR child's safety. (Parents who move the barricades to drop their children off closer to school are teaching their children that it’s ok to break the rules.  Your children will learn this lesson and it may come back to haunt you when they are preteens and teenagers. Remember, children model what you do.)

**Parking at the corner in the no parking area limits visibility for those crossing the street and could be the cause of an accident. Police will be coming to ticket people who do this, or who double park.

**Please show respect to all neighbors, and remember the crossing guards are doing this voluntarily to safeguard our children.

Drop off Procedures during Inclement Weather - when it is a "Go In" or "Indoor" morning

During inclement weather (raining or temperatures below 20 degrees) students are allowed in the building beginning at 8:30 AM rather than waiting outside for the first bell at 8:45 AM.  Parents may drop their children off. Children may enter the closest door.  They will then wait in their assigned area until the first bell rings when they may then go to their lockers / classrooms. Children (aside from pre-K) who are in the modular units should enter the main school building and proceed to their assigned waiting area. They will be escorted to the modulars when the bell rings.

Waiting Areas Inside the Building are as follows:

Pre-K - should go directly to their classroom in the Modular Unit, rather than entering the Main Building

Kindergarten and First Grade - will sit in front of their lockers

2nd and 3rd Grades - will wait in the Cafeteira

4,5, 6,7,8 Grades – will wait in the Auditorium

Please feel free to contact the office at 773 534 1070 with any questions or to volunteer to assist with outside safety.
